*Click on each image below to go to that series of work* Mixed Media Collage The primary material is exposed (used) x-ray film. I paint the film with both acrylic and oil based paints. Using a variety of scissors and other cutting tools, each piece is shaped and worked rhythmically into the final design. Originally I was drawn to the images on the film and incorporated them into the design. As I continued to explore this material I began to paint out the images completely and capitalized on the film's structural properties which allow the constructions to float in space. I prefer to create pieces in series that are related in theme, size, materials and color choices. Individual works are rarely titled, however each piece is a one of a kind, signed original.
Mixed Media Paintings Texture, texture, more texture. This was the mantra that ran through my head as I created these pieces. I was focused on combining different materials and ways of painting, ways of seeing, searching out relationships.
